Chapter 6
Glossary
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Text-to-SQL (NL2SQL) | Turning an English question into a database query |
| Schema | The layout of the database: tables, columns and how they link. What the model sees instead of the data |
| Gold answer | The correct SQL for a test question, written and checked by a person |
| Execution accuracy | Marking by running the SQL and comparing results, rather than comparing the SQL text |
| Token | The unit models read and write, roughly ¾ of a word. Prices are per million tokens |
| Input / output tokens | What you send (question + schema) / what the model writes back. Output usually costs 3–5× more |
| Cached input | Input the provider has seen recently, like our repeated schema. Charged at a fraction of the normal rate |
| Reasoning tokens | “Thinking” a model writes before its answer. You pay for it even though you don’t see it |
| Serverless | Pay per token on Fireworks’ shared hardware. The alternative is renting dedicated GPUs by the hour |
| Hallucination | A confident answer with no basis, like the made-up profit margin |
| Guardrail | A check outside the model, like opening the database read-only |
